Remember, part of Satan’s battle plan is to distract, disable, or discredit Christ’s witnesses. How does the devil attack individual believers? According to authors Franklin and Lawless, one way is by tempting them to harbor bitterness and anger. Forgiving others is a mark of people who themselves have been forgiven. Our witness suffers when we choose not to forgive. Godly relationships bear witness to His work in us (John 13:35). Bitterness and anger can control us—we live in bondage to our pain, never experiencing the freedom that Jesus offers.
