Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. |

| “You hit what you look at.” Don’t believe me? Consider sports like golf (yes, golf is a sport) or baseball. What does any good coach tell the player? Keep your eye on the ball. If you don’t watch the ball, you don’t hit it. If you do manage to hit the ball, the results are less than optimal. So, what does this have to do with education?
Sin is hata’ in Hebrew, and hamartia in the Greek. The concept represented by both words means “to miss the mark.”

The idea here is that if we don’t hit the mark (God’s plan for our lives as Christians) then we are going to hit something else, which by inference means something less than His desires for our lives. The truth of the matter is , like pitching horseshoes, if we miss the intended target, the shoe is going to hit something else. We stay on target by coming together and studying God’s Word together. As we are told in Hebrews 10:25, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” See you Sunday. |
